In the beginning...

In the beginning...there was my typewriter.  I had typing class in 8th grade.  It was one of the most helpful courses I have ever had.  I loved my typewriter.  Then, IT arrived.  The ELECTRIC typewriter.  I hated it. You barely touched the keys and it typed the letters. Whereas the manual typewriter you had to put a little pressure on the keys (less chance of a mistake).  Whenever I could, I used a manual, not an electric typewriter.  Eventually, the manuals were hard to find and I had to use the electric.  This is the first example of my resistance to advances in technology.  We won't even mention the switch from the typewriter eraser to the white correction tape.  Now I'm in graduate school and I am struggling with the technology used today in education. It's going to be a steep learning curve.  Some 34 years since that first typing class have passed.  Now they call it "keyboarding".  I miss Mr. Finch.
